YUGEN STUDIO ADU
550 Sq. Ft.
22′ x 26′
Expanding on the Yugen Studio is the ADU alternate. Inline with the original concept the main area is focused on open sliding glass walls. The open space doubles as a sleeping area with a hidden wall bed. Also hidden inside the cabinetry are entrances to the wet bath and kitchen.
THE OSPREY
1,050 Sq. Ft.
28′ x 28′
Originally titled the 720 due to 360 Views on the main level and 360 rotated views at nest for ‘720’ degree views conceptually. Made for a couple or a small family – the balance between private and public is based on circulation and viewpoints. A central core provides an efficient structure, utilities, and access to a loft. Osprey’s build nests together, growing from the inside out and expanding as the family grows. The Osprey cabin likewise contains layers of expression & possibility – centripetal to home.
REDSHIFT
600 Sq. Ft.
24′ x 36′
A traditional rectangular form is split and shifted in order to create intermediate spaces between the exterior and interior – a transitionary space for the entry and exterior decks. By a small shift each space receives daylight from various angles balancing out the interior lighting – much like increasing the wavelength of light, known as “Redshift,” this cabin shares light and space by stretching it.
YUGEN BARNDO
1,080 Sq. Ft.
20′ x 40′
A prototypical barn, with post and beam or another simple structural form provides an efficient build. This barn-dominium takes the simplicity of form with a couple strong formal moves to create layers of space. A recessed floor living area among the open main floor helps separate and distinguish uses and a protrusion on the second level provides an accent space for a personal experience of connection beyond the main form – floating away into the beyond.
